Sundays in KSA

Well, we have a bit different routine in case of holidays. Sundays are not the officials holidays in Saudi Arabia instead we have them on Fridays and Saturdays. Sundays for us are the same as Mondays for most of the other countries. I Hate Sundays a very boring day.
As I am in my summer vacations and my father still has a job to do. So, mostly I spend my day just lying around on the sofa watching Tv or surfing the internet. You guys must be thinking that what's the connection between my father's job and me staying at home, well the answer is Women are not allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia so we are completely dependent on our father and brothers to take us out for a ride. This would sound a bit weird to most of you, but I think it's the best rule for a country like this where every single boy owns a car of his own and if they allow the girls too then I guess people would prefer walking miles on their feet then driving to avoid the traffic jams.
So yeah summer vacations can get boring at times.

A Final Exam

I would like to share an amusing incident that occurred a few days before. I was in an examination hall giving my last exam of the semester. After an hour, I asked the examiner about the time. She was an Arabic speaker and so were all the students present in the hall at that time. I was the only non-Arabic speaker, she looked at her watch and answered "khamsa wa us" which translates as 5:30. She didn't realize this at first but when she looked at my outfit, I was wearing a traditional Pakistani dressing. She felt that maybe I didn't understand what she said but when I replied "Naa'm shukran" "OK thank you" I could see a sudden smile on her face. She couldn't stop herself from asking me "Do you understand Arabic" I thought to myself, after spending 22 years of my life in a country and still couldn't understand the language of that country than probably I should drown myself. So, I replied "Naa'm ana ifham Arabi" "yes, I understand Arabic" and she seemed very happy with my answer. 

Life of an Expatriate Girl in Saudi Arabia

People think the life of a girl in a country like Saudi Arabia would be just confined till their homes but for us girls living in this country, it is not really the same. Our life, at times, can get as exciting as those living in the western countries and at times it can become just the same as what people would think about it. 

I am just an ordinarily unique girl living away from my homeland with my family, struggling to provide for my education, as most of the students from other countries would do. I've been living in Saudi Arabia since I can remember. I've literally spent my whole life in here, still at times in here one do get a feeling of living in a strange country with strange people.
I've started this blog just to give those people an overview into my life, who think the girls in this country are trapped inside their homes, wearing black veils all the time and are not allowed to speak in front of men. 
We live pretty much the same lives as any girl would want to live but with just a few rules, not restrictions as portrayed by the outside media. I hope to change that perception with my blog and show the true side of the picture.
